SCA, a leading global hygiene and forest products company, has joined the Circular Economy 100 (CE100), an Ellen MacArthur Foundation program established to enable organizations to develop new circular opportunities. The transition to a circular economy – powered by renewable energy and in which resources and energy are used as effectively as possible – is the core of any low-carbon society. The CE100 membership will help accelerate SCA’s circular economy ambitions and further enhance SCA’s ability to contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, in particular Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, and Goal 13: Climate Change. / SCA

As part of its ongoing support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, leading global hygiene and forest products company SCA, in partnership with The Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC), a United Nations entity devoted solely to the sanitation and hygiene needs of the most vulnerable people around the world, announced the launch of a joint research report on hygiene practices worldwide, the Hygiene Matters report. The initiative was established by SCA in 2008 to raise awareness of the connection between hygiene, health and wellbeing. / SCA

SCA is a leading global hygiene and forest products company. Today about 85% of the Group sales derives from the hygiene business and about 15% from the forest products business. To create further value for the shareholders, the SCA Board of Directors plans to initiate work in order to propose to the Annual General Meeting 2017 to decide on a split of the Group into two listed companies. This is planned to be completed through a distribution of the Group’s hygiene business to its shareholders in accordance with the rules of Lex Asea*. In the event of a distribution of the hygiene business, SCA’s shareholders will, in addition to their current shareholding, also receive shares in the new listed hygiene company. / SCA

As SCA communicated in May 2015, the company is one of several businesses active on the Spanish incontinence care market that is part of an investigation by the Spanish National Commission for Markets and Competition, CNMC. The CNMC has now reached its conclusion and has fined a number of companies, one of which is SCA. The fine imposed on SCA amounts to approximately SEK 325m for alleged improper market conduct between 1996 and 2014. / SCA
